The Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 10^th National People's Congress Gu Xiulian, the former Vice Prime Minister of Thailand and Chairman of the Thai-China Friendship Association, Mr. Dabbaransi, the former Minister of Aviation and Space Industry Lin Zongtang, the Chairman of China Public Diplomatic Association Li Zhaoxing, the former Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology and former Chief of Digital Paper Zhang Jing’an, the Nobel Laureate  Professor AndreGaim of the University of Manchester, the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Professor Liu Zhongfan of Peking University, Dr. Yang Zhengyou of Taiwan Technical Service, the Deputy Director of China Society for the Promotion of Science and Technology Wu Xuehui and other guests and representatives from global graphene science and technology application leading enterprises attended the meeting. The participants are more than 200.

In the welcoming speech, the President of China International Graphene Industry Union Zhang Jing’an said, the Union would build an international platform, promote the exchange of scientific and technological achievements and accelerate the industrialization process, focusing on constructing the standard system of the field. It would contribute to the healthy, standardized and orderly development of graphene industry in China and the world.

On the seminar, the Co-Chair of CIGIU, former Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, and Chairman of the Thailand-China Friendship Association, Dabbaransi said that the graphene gave us a chance to meet each other and develop together in the future, and hoped that graphene would play a more important role in the new energy and alternative energy field.

The senior adviser of CIGIU, former Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and chairman of the China Association of Public Diplomacy Li Zhaoxing said at the seminar that the most important in communication between countries is mutual respect and based on the principle we were looking for the common point to cooperate. International union are the same on promoting the development of the industry and bringing benefit to people. The union should expand to the world, make good use of global resources and the market, commit itself to innovation, creativity and platform construction, improve the industrial chain, and make international cooperation. We should make the Union into an international super-contact person, who can have an international impact and play a practical role in the graphene industry,

The deputy director of Raw Materials Department of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Yue Quanhua said at the seminar that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science issued a number of views on accelerating the development of the graphene industry innovation, for guiding the development of graphene industry innovation and boosting the upgrading of traditional industries, supporting the development and growth of the new industries and promoting the material industry upgrading. In the next step of industrialization, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will organize the implementation of "graphene +" action, which is problem-oriented, making the use of graphene, employing one-stop-to-terminal model, making efforts to build upstream and downstream through the graphene Industrial chain, promoting the first batch of demonstration applications, increasing varieties, improving quality, reducing costs, establishing brand, increasing efficiency.

The Chief Operating Officer of the new materials in Taiwan Technical Service, Dr. Yang Zhengyou described how graphene can be applied practically. He thought that the graphene in the future will be added into the national product strategy and there would be a relationship between graphene and the strength of our country in the future. The development of graphite also requires government guidance.

The academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor Liu Zhongfan of Peking University said at the seminar that it is natural for China to lead the establishment of the China International Graphene Industry Union, for China’s graphene industrialization process play a leading role in the world. Graphene is currently at the pinnacle of expectation and in the climbing period, which requires the support from the state and the government at that time, needs more investments from some enterprises and more efforts. After that, the industrialization of key technologies will stand on the mature stage.

The Nobel Laureate, Professor Andre • Geim of University of Manchester thought that it needed more patience and continuous research to try to use the new material in the graphene industry and field. This material, like silicon, is really transforming the lives of all, redefining many definitions of life for all. Unlike software, the development of graphene is unbalanced, so it needs more cooperation, effort and patience.

18 divisions around the world

At the seminar, China International Graphene Industry Union held the inauguration ceremony. The establishment of the union means that it is the most extensive international exchange platform, which is at the highest starting point, having the most comprehensive resources, technology, business, capital, talent, information, intellectual property, industry promotion in the international graphene field and marks the union will comprehensively promote the global development of graphene industry.

At present, the union is preparing to set up 18 branches around the world. At the seminar, the union awarded the first nine international branches, including Los Angeles, New York, Sydney, Lisbon, Singapore, New Delhi, Tokyo, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The reporter has learned that the membership system in China International Graphene Industry Union is lined with the international standard. The member must have strong influence in the relevant field and the application must be submitted to the Council of the Union for approval.

The members of the union can not only cooperate with each other and complement the resource, be provided with financial, technical, intellectual property, legal and other services, but also can be given the priority to the other members’ supports of technology, capital, and market. Besides, the Fund under the Union takes the United States Silicon Valley as a successful model, introducing the international capital into graphene application technology industrialization to help member companies to grow rapidly.
